“Mungus make the hurting now! Happy happy!”
— Mungus

Mungus is a member of the Mammoth Tribe and appeared in the summer 2014 sets. He is the son of Maula and the younger brother of Mottrot.

Biography[]

Mungus is the biggest and strongest warrior in the Ice Hunter tribes, easily twice the size of anyone else. He’s so big that it took three CHI orbs to wake him up from his frozen sleep. Mungus can flip over a Rhino tank without even trying hard and defeat a troop of Lions all by himself. He is actually a lovable sort but not very bright, and can’t do much of anything unless his mother, Maula, tells him how to do it. He’s sweet, friendly, and happy all the time – unless Maula tells him to attack something, in which case he charges forward and crushes it flat.[1]

Legends of Chima: Character Encyclopedia[]

Giant Simpleton[]

Mungus's sheer size makes him one of the main warriors of the Hunter Tribes. He seems like a harmless low-intelligence individual, but he's very capable at following orders- when his mother Maula tells him to attack, he does.

Sibling Rivalry[]

Big, bumbling Mungus can do nothing wrong in his mother's eyes. Mother Mammoth bestows all her love and attention on her largest son, even praising him for all of his brother Mottrot good ideas. This makes Mungus very happy- as does beating someone with his club.

Did you Know?[]

It takes three whole CHI Orbs to wake up the mighty Mungus from his frozen sleep.

Physical Description[]

Mungus is a large brown mammoth with big white tusks and thick fur. Patches of muscle are visible on his snout, and bones on his chest and left leg. He wears a silver belt with three CHI orbs and a dark brown skirt.

History[]

Fire Dreaming[]

Mungus is asleep, Maula wakes him up by giving his three orbs of CHI. He wakes up with aloud, shaking roar, and then sweetly says to his mom that he missed her and chuckles. Maula tells him to grab his brother Mottrot with him, and they'll go to "hurt someone". Mungus is very happy with this and stomps after his mother.

He marches with the rest of the Ice Hunters in the caverns and up the Gorge of Eternal Depth.

Attack of the Ice Clan[]

Mungus attacks the Crocodile Swamp with the Hunters. Cragger and Crooler lock the Hunters in the Temple, but Mungus lifts up the gate the frees them. He is later seen carrying a bunch of CHI on his back.

In the battle against Chima's tribes, Mungus is asked by his mother to smash Rogon as he is making snow-angels, so Mungus flips upside down the Rhino's Rock Flinger with his bare hands.

After Laval frees Cragger from Vardy's trap, Mungus and Mottrot run to attack them, but they escape with Worriz's help. A little later Mungus' pushes backwards a Wolf Tank and cracks the ice below, casuing VoomVoom and Vornon to temporarily fly, and then crush back on Mungus.

When Maula scolds Mottort for questioning Sir Fangar, and tells him to be like Mungus, Mungus is shown playing in the snow. After the Hunters get stuck by thir own ice, Mungus' trunk is stuck in ice.

The Call of Cavora[]

Mungus roams around Chima with the hunters, while sleeping. His big brother Mottrot is yelled at by their mother Maula for even though he's giving a warning, the volume of his voice might wake Mungus up. However, Mungus still wakes up for the different reason of getting hit on the head by a falling rock.

Trial By Fire[]

Mungus attacks the beaver lodge with the rest of the Hunters, but doesn't speak until he's told to run by Maula (his mother) when help arrives with their new fire CHI.

The Crescent[]

When the Hunters return to their fortress in defeat, Mungus is spoiled when Maula mainly credits him for bringing back the Speedorz they lost in the battle, while Mottrot isn't given any part of the 50% he's owed as he was the one who found them in the first place while Mungus was the one that brought them back because of his strength. Later on, Mungus goes with the Hunters to take over the Crescent and when the heroes run out of firepower, he's the one that makes an earthquake with his giant club, but he retreats when the Phoenix come and scare them off.

Fired Up![]

When the Hunters are pushed back into the Gorge, Mungus is again credited by Maula for something that his brother Mottrot did which was suggest to mix tar from an old tar pit with their ice to make black ice (that becomes entirely useless).

Mungus goes with his tribe back to the Fangs, becoming the main problem for Chima's army thanks to his strength that lets him completely tip over Laval's giant tank. Up against Cragger and Laval, he quickly overpowers them, but before he can get the job done, the whole mountain seems to have fallen on top of his foot. Maula and Mattrot go to help, but they end up being useless, so because there's no other way to get him free, they ask the enemy if they could use their fire CHI to melt the ice. Despite Cragger's disapproval, Laval makes them a deal that if he freed Mungus, they would leave straight away. Honouring their part, Mungus leaves with his family and tribe back the way they came.

Cool and Collected[]

Mungus and the rest of the mammoths are alerted of Cragger's presence inside of the Gorge when he accidentally screams "secret". Later on, he's the one that also presented to Fangar's generals a frozen Skinnet that they thought to be Flinx the Phoenix child, obviously not knowing what a phoenix is if they thought a skunk was one. At the end of the day, Mungus goes with the Hunters to attack the Crocodile Swamp because of Flinx's whereabouts being confirmed over there. However, during the battle, Mungus becomes vulnerable because he gets scared of the steam clouding everything in sight.

The Snowball Effect[]

To make sure the Rhinos didn't stand a chance, Mungus was given the responsibility to do something about their greatest weapon, their own legend beast. Having lured the beast somewhere by banging his club underground for a distraction, Mungus buries the rhino deep underground where no one could find him, far enough that the rhinos became dumb again. Mungus then smashes open a hole down through the surface for both Rinona and the fire chi to lie so the rhinos couldn't use anything to fight, even if they wanted to, Rinona just being something extra that was included

Instead of saving their tribe, the Rhinos that remain have fun snow boarding, Mungus showing a bit of interest in it, and when he's tasked to attack them, Rogon asks Mungus to play with them, to which the mammoth joyfully accepts, with the rest of his tribe following his example. Seemingly having forgotten that they were even fighting for a minute, when Maula demands her troops to go back to it other than playing, Mungus agrees with Rogon on why they should fight and questions her on why they can't just have fun. Sadly though, Mungus gets manipulated easily into attacking the rhinos to prove that he and Mottrot love her, and from that, the mammoths follow the two brothers into battle, a battle the rhinos can't fight. But when the beast arrives, Mungus retreats with his mother, his brother and his tribe.

The King Thing[]

During the siege for the Lion Temple, Mungus has Flinx surrounded with Mottrot, until Li'Ella shows up and steps on his toe, causing Mungus to lose balance and roll down the ice slide that was originally the temple steps, and while doing so, because of his giant physique, he slid right through multiple of his fellow Hunters.

A Very Slippery Slope[]

As their giant ice mountain falls apart, Mungus is pulled right into Mottrot who's pinned to the wall, with his club coming next that strikes Mottrot on the trunk. Outside, Mungus defends the temple from those attacking by using its blasters, and later on when Mottrot tries to go out to battle to prove himself, Fangar replaces him with Mungus immediately because of the differences they have between each other, even stating that he didn't know who Mottrot was.

Directly ordered from Sir Fangar to get rid of Worriz and Gorzan for being a diversion, Mungus looks to get it done but is swayed away when Rogon, Rukus and Runk arrive to distract him unintentionally, for the fact that they actually saw him as a friend and not an enemy, at least not until they see the croc flare.

Trivia[]

  • Mungus is the first non-licensed LEGO Big-Fig (a posable figure that is larger than a minifig) since the Trolls of the Castle theme in 2008.
  • He's the only Mammoth to get an Ultrabuild set.
    • In his Ultrabuild set he only has one CHI Orb rather than three.
  • Mungus, oddly, has a very high-pitched voice in the TV series.
  • Although Mungus is thousands of years old, he acts like a three-year old. It is possible he was frozen into the gorge when he was that age.
  • It was revealed in episode 32 that Mungus is Mottrot's little brother, it is unknown why Mottrot is so small compared to his brother.
  • His name is short for and a play on 'humongous'.
  • Mungus had a friendly relationship with the Rhino Tribe (notably Rogon) until they denied him at some point in season 3.
  • Due to his abnormally large size, Mungus appears different than every other character in the TV series apart from Plovar.
