The Ice Hunters are a group of ancient tribes that gained ice-based powers due to a combination of residue energy from the Great Illumination and being frozen in solid ice. According to legend, the Hunters were Tribes that the Phoenix Tribe attempted to educate. Yet one individual, Sir Fangar, grew power-obsessed and led the Hunters against the Phoenix. The Phoenix used a technique they called 'The Great Illumination', and destroyed the Hunters' temple by creating the Gorge of Eternal Depth. The Hunters were lost to history until the Scorpion Tribe dumped CHI down the cavern, awakening them from a thousand years of dreamless slumber.
Fire vs Ice[]
Once they were awakened the Hunters travailed across Chima freezing the land. A defense was mounted by the animals of Chima, but an Ice Shield created by the Hunters resulted in many early victories for the Ice Hunters, leading to desperate measures by the Tribes. This ended when Eris was lead into Mount Cavora by the Phoenix, and Fire CHI was discovered.

Trivia[]
- The Ice Hunters could arguably be considered the most menacing and most powerful villain tribe faction in the Chima series thus far, because of their frozen zombie appearance and their power to freeze anything they can touch.
- They are the only villain tribe faction who is built up of four tribes, instead of three.
- They must have a CHI orb in their chest plates at all times or they will fall asleep.
